Night Parks

Portland is one of the only cities I know with open gate cemeteries. The downer is assholes drinking and breaking gravestones ignorantly, having nowhere to go after 1am thanks to ill-reasoned city ordinances. The good side is an amazing place to talk to your friends, to howl at the moon, to confess to Longfellow’s empty tomb your defeated heart, to have animal release or bonding sex among the departed; a place to stand in the door between this world and the hereafter and look and wonder and go right back to the city.
